The End of an Era: Leaving a 123 Year Legacy

The Middleburgh Century Club was formed on December 3, 1900. A meeting of the Century Club was held at 3:00pm at the home of Mrs. Alonzo Almy (a relative of Club member Carrie Foland). The goal of the Club was to serve the community, encourage philanthropy, promote citizenship, and gain members. Since 2020 challenges existed and with declining active membership at the start of the 2023-2024 year, the decision was made to dissolve the Middleburgh Century Club.

The Club flower fund for the Spring/Summer hanging baskets in Middleburgh will continue thanks to the generosity of The Marge and Randy Becker Foundation. The 2023/2024 MCS School year will be the last for the Club’s Scholarship Awards. Hopefully other groups will step forward to continue the Christmas Trees with decorations by the Elementary School students and Spring/Summer flowers in the Memorial Park. Club memorabilia, scrap books and other club history will be housed by the Middleburgh Historical Society. The Middleburgh Century Club thanks the community, the Village government, the school district and all others who helped carry out our mission and purpose over the many years.
