At a Special Village Board Meeting held on Monday, August 26, the Village Board of Trustees unanimously voted to adopt Local Law 2-2024, which designates Railroad Avenue as a one-way street heading towards Main Street.
The Board approved this Local Law after a lengthy and well-attended Public Hearing was held at the Middleburgh Firehouse. Railroad Avenue will legally become a one-way on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Parking will remain on the same side of Railroad Avenue, with the direction now facing towards Main Street.
“With this change we can mitigate future accidents,” stated Village Trustee Kevin Young, who led this effort. He continued, “This will make the road safer for residents, and the Fire Department will have an easier time responding to emergency calls.”
“I want to thank everyone who participated in the public hearing,” commented Village Mayor Timothy Knight. “Dozens of residents came out and engaged in a respectful, proactive, and productive hearing without animosity or ill-will – and whether they supported or opposed this Law – we will all continue to move forward together as one community,” he added.
