Railroad Avenue in the Village of Middleburgh has officially become a one-way street with all traffic going towards Main Street. This is a continuation of the existing one-way that has existed between Scribner and Danforth since the mid-1990s.
The Village Department of Public Works (DPW) came in early Thursday morning to install new signage on Main Street, Railroad Avenue, and Sheldon Avenue reflecting the change in traffic pattern. Additionally, the DPW will be installing parking meters on Railroad Avenue in when conditions allow to ensure there is greater flow of parking/traffic.
“We understand that this is going to take time for folks to adjust,” stated Village Mayor Timothy Knight. He added, “I lived on Railroad Avenue for several years, and this is going to take me time to develop muscle memory in the weeks ahead, let alone the residents who have been driving both ways on the street for decades.”
